Emily Powell – Running the London Marathon for the Primrose Hospice
Meet Emily Powell – HME’s Finance Administrator and now, 2021 London Marathon Runner!
“I have been lucky enough this year to be given the opportunity to take part in The London Marathon. It has been a dream for me to complete since I started running over 10 years ago. I never thought it would be possible to get a place or that my body could complete the training let alone the marathon! But this year, thanks to HME Logistics, who I have the pleasure of working for and The Primrose Trust, I have the chance to take part in this prestigious event. I am very lucky to have my husband and children’s backing to help motivate me through the training, but it would also be amazing if I could get lots of people to sponsor me for this worthy cause. All sponsorship money will go to the Primrose Hospice to help them continue supporting local families as they are caring for loved ones. It will also help to motivate me to complete the course.”
THE PRIMROSE HOSPICE
The chosen charity is the Primrose Hospice. It’s an independent charity, that offers care and advice to patients living with a life-limiting condition and supporting their families in the north east Worcestershire area. They are a day hospice providing a range of support for patients who can also benefit from their nurse led clinics, physiotherapy and occupational therapy services, spiritual and emotional support. Some clinics, including lymphoedema, are also hosted at the Hospice. Their Family Support Service offers individualised support to adults and children including a counselling service, benefits advice and complementary therapy.
The Primrose Hospice is an independent charity, that relies upon the support of individuals and businesses to help to raise the £1.75 million needed each year needed to provide their services free to all who require them.
